Databases
The building block of quality analysis
Freight Database
The ACT Freight Database is a monthly updated database that includes key historical volume and pricing data for TL, LTL, railroads, air cargo, and port activity. A lot of freight data are widely available, so what’s in there that you may not have?
- Weekly rail volumes by railroad and AAR category back to 2000
- Monthly LTL tonnage for the public carriers since 2007
- Monthly container import and export activity from the top twelve North American ports
- Monthly truckload spot and contract market data covering dry van, refrigerated, and flatbeds since 2009
This information also informs the Freight Forecast, making it a great option in addition to that report.
Three big upgrades to the Freight Database as of March 2023:
1) New DAT Spot Volume Indexes, including Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, with an Aggregate by ACT based on trailer fleets.
2) Addition of LTL and Intermodal Producer Price Indexes, sourced from BLS, which are also forecasted in ACT's Freight Forecast.
3) New Definition page explaining all the Freight Database data sets.
