Ken Vieth, Senior Partner and General Manager
Ken has been associated with transportation since the mid-60s. ACT Research was founded by Vieth in 1986 shortly after he retired from Cummins, Inc., where he worked for 22 years. While at Cummins, Vieth worked in more than 30 countries, plus lived in Beirut, Lebanon. His last position at Cummins was Director, N.A. Market Research & Analysis. Vieth earned his MBA from Indiana University in international business and economics following a B.S. degree from Southern Illinois University. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army, with Japan and Korea part of the agenda.

 

Kenny Vieth, Partner and Senior Analyst
After receiving his B.S. from Southern Illinois University, Vieth spent six years in city government and education before joining ACT Research in 1991. Vieth became a partner in 2000. Kenny oversees commercial vehicle analysis and is the company’s principal heavy truck and trailer market analyst. In that capacity, Vieth has become an advisor to OEMs, suppliers, Wall Street and the Federal Reserve, for whom he is a frequent contributor to the Beige Book report. He has presented at major industry and Wall Street conferences and is regularly referenced in commercial vehicle trade press and in major financial news sources. While never quoted locally, his opinions have graced the pages of The Australian, Sweden’s Investor magazine and the Financial Times of England.

 

Steve Tam, Director
After receiving his B.S. from Indiana University, Steve spent seven years in various accounting positions at two Fortune 500 companies before joining ACT Research in 2000. He became a director in 2001. Steve has been involved in the commercial vehicle industry for 12 years. He is ACT Research’s principal light and medium vehicle market analyst. Other responsibilities include project and database management; and collection, analysis, and reporting of specialty data series, such as publicly traded carrier and used truck data. Steve also gives presentations to private companies as well as industry organizations.

 

Gayatri Deshpande, Research Analyst
Gayatri joined the company in 2005, after graduating from Wright State University with a Master of Science in social and applied economics. She also holds a Master of Marketing Management from the University of Pune, India. Gayatri is responsible for researching emerging markets, such as China and India, as well as monthly analysis of data. She also writes Canada’s macroeconomic background for the Global Commercial Vehicle Forecast.
Joyce Wire, Business Manager
After earning an MBA at Indiana University, Joyce worked in the marketing area for several companies, including what was then known as Arvin. She also consulted in marketing and co-owned a business dealing with time management and goal setting. She joined ACT Research in 1998 as business manager, handling invoicing, customer service, and office management. Joyce also contributes to the Global Commercial Vehicle Forecast, writing the macroeconomic background on Mexico. She is the principal business contact for ACT Research.
