Why was the India Truck Industry White Paper prepared? ACT launched the China White Paper in Fall 2006. It was very well received by the industry experts. The next logical and requested step for us was to understand the current and future dynamics of another significant Asian commercial vehicle (CV) market: India. There has been growing evidence of more and more N.A. CV companies starting their operations in India. It has become important for them to secure their share in the growing Indian CV market which is on the verge of dramatic growth. What are their concerns of doing business in India and how are they overcoming these? Did they find the Indian business culture different than the American business culture, and if yes, in what ways?
On the other side of this coin, many N.A. CV manufacturers and first and second tier manufacturers are sourcing parts and components from India. Does this mean that these items are replacing existing N.A. supply, or serving to add to existing capacity needs? Are the same parts being sold into the Indian market and if yes, are design, quality, and price the same? Many demand and supply questions like these were addressed in the survey and supporting research.
What insights into the N.A. commercial vehicle industry were identified? N.A. companies participated in a lengthy survey of why they were or were not operating in India. Some of the respondents even said they had no future Indian plans. An overall objective was to define where companies are today relative to their India-N.A. operations and then attempt to understand where future plans may take them in these two very large CV markets. The study was successful in providing real insights about today and likely future actions.
Users: The principal users of the India white paper will be those in or supporting top management who are charged with making product sourcing and manufacturing location decisions for tomorrow’s markets: India, China, or elsewhere. Commercial vehicle competition is becoming more global, which in turn is putting more and more pressure on product costs and quality. India is a major alternative manufacturing location that concurrently has a very large, growing commercial vehicle market. Hopefully, the India Truck Industry White Paper provides each user with insights not previously understood.
Pricing: As a thank you to ACT's subscribers, white paper pricing has been discounted. Non-subscribers/members do not receive any discount.
